Biography

 

Andreja Sršen is an Assistant Professor at the University of Zagreb, Department of Sociology - Faculty of Croatian Studies, where she teaches the following courses as a lecturer in charge: EU Sustainable Development Policies, European Society and Integral Ecology, European Union and Civil Society, Institutions of EU and Sociology of Identity. She is also a Lecturer in charge of the “Integral Ecology” course at the Catholic University of Croatia and examines themes from Pope Francis’ encyclical letter in the spirit of integral human development, with a special interest in social inequity.
Her interests are in the areas of Catholic Social Teaching, Croatian identity, EU sustainable development policies, and especially in the area of Integral Ecology, which is based on the principles of Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si' – On a Care for Our Common Home. Also, her professional interests are related to a new understanding of the new global migration processes, especially in the EU, the importance of the Catholic Church, and her pastoral activity where Catholic social thought is a powerful resource in the mission of the Church today.
She participated in several projects which promoted Christian values in academia and in general. Andreja Sršen was head of the project “Europe and the Culture of Remembrance” launched by Eisenstadt Diocese, the scientific-professional organization “International Association of Burgenland Croats – Burgenland Society Hrvat S.A.M (Slovakia – Austria – Hungary)” from Croatia and Austria in cooperation with the Catholic University of Croatia. It is worth mentioning that Andreja Sršen won the "AWARD for the scientific contribution in the promotion of European values" from the Bishop of the Diocese of Eisenstadt Ägidius J.Zsifkovics for the promotion of European values.
Andreja Sršen was also engaged in several academic pursuits within the project “CROLAUDATOSI – On a Care for Our Common Home” launched by the Catholic University of Croatia. 
She is the project manager of the project "Different Forms of Communion, Historical and Contemporary Principles of Connecting Croats and the Catholic Church in Rome". She is involved in a whole range of international initiatives and research projects.

Hrvatski studiji Sveučilišta u Zagrebu pokrenuti su i ustrojeni 16. studenoga 1992., isprva samo kao dvosemestralni Sveučilišni komparativni studij hrvatske filozofije i društva. Taj je program potom preoblikovan u program redovitog četverogodišnjeg studija.
