Teaching

Biography

Dr. Marko Jerković works as an associate professor at the University of Zagreb, where he teaches courses on medieval Latin culture and religion. His research interests include the institutional history of Church and religious orders; medieval centres of power; collective identities; ecclesiastical government; concepts of authority and discipline in religious orders; processes of normative formation of religious orders. He published the monograph book Zagrebački kanonici u 14. stoljeću – institucionalna i društvena povijest katedralne zajednice [Canons of the Zagreb Chapter in the 14th Century: Institutional and Social History of the Cathedral Community] (2018), and some 30 papers about the history of Church and religious orders, as well as eight editorial books. From 2019 he is the associated scientist at the FOVOG-Dresden. He is a member of the “Committee of Ecclesiastical History of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Regional Committee of Pécs”; of the “Episcopus – Society for the Study of Bishops and Secular Clergy in the Middle Ages” and of the “Tkalčić: Society for the study of Zagreb Archdiocese history”. He is the general editor of the Bibliotheca Religious Entrepreneurs of the University of Zagreb which publishes the contributions to the vita religiosa. He participated in various exchange programs and teaching mobility (ERASMUS, CEEPUS). Dr. Jerković directed or participated in various scientific projects, hosted by the University of Zagreb, Catholic University of Zagreb, University of Dresden, and University of Pécs. He is currently directing the project “Religious Entrepreneurs: Cultural Imprints of Religious Communities in Croatia and Europe”, and co-directing the bilateral project “Saints and Shaping of Religious Identities” hosted by the FOVOG, Dresden and University of Zagreb – Faculty of Croatian Studies (DAAD–Croatian Ministry of Science).
